Partner: Bullhorn.fm
A subsidiary of CarrierX, Bullhorn.fm is a powerful interactive podcasting and content creation platform dedicated to driving social connection. From July 2021-2022, I served the CarrierX team as a Graphic Designer. Visit Bullhorn’s website here to learn more about the service.
In this role, I led design projects for a variety of platforms and interfaces, some of which are shown below. If you’d like to jump to an area of interest, use the Table of Contents tab on the left.
Social Media Marketing
With a small digital marketing team, repurposed content was an integral part in keeping our channels active and engaging. This graphic is an example of branded Twitter content which I repurposed for Instagram.
2021 Podcast Awards
Our 2021 Podcast of the Year Awards were the second annual marketing event of its kind. That year, we decided to scale the event and release personalized “awards” in the form of sharable graphics. These designs positioned the awards as distinguished, highly coveted titles with very little upfront investment. In turn, these assets generated an unprecedented level of engagement— the likes of which Bullhorn had not yet seen. These awards gave us tremendous reach in comparison to our average marketing messages, and we were able to gain the attention of prominent podcasters just through Word-of-Mouth. This remains one of Bullhorn’s most successful campaigns to date.
Influencer Marketing
One of our most successful podcasters, Luke Caudillo saw his show explode in popularity through Bullhorn’s interactive content platform. Check out the video above to see the highlights of Luke’s live interview with Bullhorn.
Trade Show Materials
In March 2022, Bullhorn attended its first in-person trade show since the pandemic began. The convention Podcast Movement: Evolutions was held in Los Angeles, and I was tasked with creating the trade show signage and flyers for the event.
Digital Platforms
Mobile App
When first I joined the Bullhorn team, the product was in the midst of an extensive app redesign. The goal of this redesign was to improve user experience; adopting a cleaner, content-first approach. We wanted to spotlight the people who make Bullhorn great, so we initiated a style in which our brand took less visual precedence, and instead championed the creators on our platform.
A major part of our Explore page redesign consisted of updating the Categories section. We prioritized ease of use by creating custom category icons, and chose to spotlight the top podcast in each category for a sleeker design. Check out the app in action by downloading it here through Apple or Google Play.
App Store Graphics
Before
After
In recent years, the podcasting space has become saturated with so many different applications– with all these platforms to choose from, it was vital for us to quickly and effectively communicate Bullhorn.fm’s value to prospective users. Along with the launch of our redesign, we also overhauled the visual style of our App Store graphics, emphasizing the core element of our brand messaging; interactive content that fosters genuine, real-time human connection.
Website & User Experience
The team launched a new onboarding flow in March 2022. The goal of this redesign was to release a new product feature before the Podcast Movement: Evolutions trade show (which Bullhorn attended as an exhibitor). We began offering creators the ability to create on our platform without an established RSS feed, which greatly reduced the barrier to entry for our users.
The screens below are a small selection of the redesigned flow, showcasing some of the design contributions I made to the project.
Part of our product optimization included reducing the friction for new users when setting up their channel. I designed four default profile photo designs for new users to choose from, decreasing the amount of time it took users to complete the set up flow while improving user experience.
